After having my name on a waiting list for over a year the local council rang me and to my delight offered me an allotment. All I had to do was view it and sign on the dotted line.
My first visit to the site and the reality hit me. It was gonna be hard, hard work. A patch of land with rotavated weeds, no water and no fencing. It was great and to me it was perfect.
Being a full time finance Officer and a mum of two I knew nothing about allotments. What I did know Is that I had the drive and determination to succeed and even if I didn't get to eat my own grown carrots I would have indulged in plenty of exercise along the way.
A shed, i needed a shed. The allotment that we had renamed "lotty" was a few miles away from home so to we needed a shed to store our equipment but more to flake out in after a few hours work. We asked friends if they had a spare old shed but no one did so I hit eBay. The shed arrived and is now errected and as a lady who has 2 girls and who's favourite colour is pink I had to pimp my shed. Blackpool style deckchairs and flags at the windows my shed is pimped (I luv my shed).
A work colleague was kind enough to give me two barrells for water storage and I managed to cadge a free water butt from someone else. An old man who has a nearby allotment gave me some guttering that I attached to my shed. Let the water collection commence.
I am currently writing this on my phone but when I get on the computer I will add some pics and
Introduce you to my Lotty
